Day + 87 Con't.

Well, we finally made it back to the apt. after a VERY long day at the hospital. Nick and I arrived at the hospital today at 1:00, the surgery was scheduled at 2:30. At 3:00 we were told that there was an emergency surgery and that Nick's surgery was pushed back to 4:30. At 4:45 we were told 5:00. At 6:00, they finally took him back.
The surgery went well, no major issues. He woke up right before the doc was getting ready to take out his central line. I guess he started pushing the doc's hand away. So, they had to increase the anesthesia. Nick has done this before....I forgot to warn them!
Right now he is crashed out on the couch. Very sore and very tired, but nothing unexpected. I am keeping a close on eye on his incision. He was bleeding after the surgery, which is normal. But, with low platelets we have to make sure it stops. Also, keeping an eye on his temp. to make sure there is no sign of infection. We go back to the hospital on Friday for a follow up appt and a level check.

Hey Sandy, We have been in touch with Lori as have other coworkers. She seems to be staying positive, which is a great attitude. Her course of treatment will be demanding, but as you have witnessed first hand, miracles do happen. We took dinner the other night, Joe delivered it and I said we should have sent our dog Dusti instead! They would have loved that. Lori told Joe she would take Dusti back at any time! We were laughing because the dogs she has from the same litter act just like Dusti...very high maintenance. We are so glad that Nick continues to make positive strides toward full recovery. It will be so nice to be back home and back to familiar surroundings and people that care about you. I'm sure you have a whole new circle of "family and friends" now in Cinncinati. Enjoy this wonderful summer like day and Go Cavs!
