Day +63

Well its been a week since I have posted. Nick continues do well overall.

He started complaining of soreness around his central line tonight. I will call the BMT unit tomorrow and see if they want us to bring him for a check up. Also, the nurse is coming to our apartment tomorrow am to pull labs again in the morning. They are checking a couple levels for his kidney function. The Creantine and BUN levels keep creeping up so they backed off on one of his med's, hoping to get these levels heading back down.

Nick's Grandma from NC and her husband came to visit Nick and I this weekend. They got here on Saturday around 3 and left today around 7. It was nice to have them up here for a few days.

The weather looked awesome all weekend. It was almost 90 down here in Cincinnati. The NFL draft helped keep his attention. He wasn't too bummed out about not being able to go outside. We were both more bummed out with our (Browns) draft. What can we say, except..... Go Cavs!!!!!!

A big congratulations goes out to the Lake Express (14 and over) for winning the Hudson Tournament this weekend. (Just because he isn't playing this year, don't mean he isn't paying attention.)  Make sure you guys keep us up to date on the games. He hopes to be able to join you guys next year.

Well that's all for tonight. If anything develops from the labs or other minor issues, we'll be sure to post. Have a great week and thanks for keeping in touch.

I did want to post a quick update on Blake and Andrew.

Blake is still in ICU and making a slow but steady recovery from his recent issues. He and his parents have been through so much. He is in the fight of his life and his parents are right beside him. I check his site daily to follow his updates. He is a real strong kid but continues to struggle. Everytime I get an update from them, I worry about the news. I sure hope the Lord has great plans for that kid and his family. They have been here for over a year now. He got his BMT in May, got out of the hospital in early July, got sick (Fever) in late August ad has been there ever since.  Sandy and I are very cautious about making sure we are doing the right things but we do realize that only God knows what is in store for us and Nick.

Baby Andrew is doing much better. He is still in the BMT unit but his cells have engrafted and his counts are going up. I think the only thing holding him back from release is his blood pressure. It has been hard to control since the BMT. I would hope that he will be out of there in the next week or two. He needed to have his central line put back in yesterday since he ripped it out again. This family got more bad news this weekend . There other son has the same disease. He will need to go thorugh the same BMT that his brother has been going through for the past 2 years. If you ever think you are having a bad day, read this update and put yourself in her shoes. http://www.carepages.com/carepages/babyandrewakin/updates/2110579

Okay, I am done for real this time. Have a great week.

Dan; Thanks so much for taking the time out to update us on Nick, and also on the other children. It is always nice to read that Nick has had a special visitor. I imagine that his grandma and her husband were a wonderful addition to the weekend. Praying for Nick, and asking the Lord to bring relief from tha pain around the central line. All in all, it sounds like the weekend was another good one. Sorry about the disappointing Browns draft. Never know...things could turn oot. Thanks so much for the updates on the other children. Continuing to llift them up to the Lord, and praying for His divine help and healing. Wishing you all a wonderful week to come, and more good news for Nick; with more slow, steady progress and healing! Keep your chin up, Nick. You are SOOO close to the end of all of this. You have come a long way...and you are amazing! Wishing you the very best of God's blessings. ~Annette

Nick; I have had you on my mind for several days, and decided to send you another note, just so you would know that you continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that the pain in the area of your central line is gone now, and that you are doing well. I continue to pray that the Lord will give you an extra measure of strength, and that He will grant you a steady and swift recovery. Hang in there, buddy....you are amazing! Keeping you and your entire family close in my thoughts and prayers each day. May you have a WONDERFUL day, and today be one day closer to your complete recovery! Prayerfully, ~Annette

Nick, Dan, Sandy, Alaina and Nate We continue to remember all of you in our prayers. It is exciting to hear that everything is on schedule. Nick you have come a long way and we are just praising the Lord for where you are at today. It brings me back to the annointing service in the fellowship hall and how those prayers that were prayed are being answered. As it says in Psalm 121 I lift up my eyes to the hills where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord the Maker of heaven and earth. I pray that you will continue to feel the hand of God upon you each and every day. God Bless
