Day +59

Hi Everyone!
Day +59 and all is good in Cinci. We have had a pretty uneventful week with the exception of dealing with Cinci public schools. We are still waiting for them to send out a home bound instructor. The hospital actually had to call the superintendent to get the ball rolling.We are so spoiled with Lake Local Schools! You don't realize how wonderful LLS is until you have to deal with another school district! Anyhow, we finally heard from them on Monday and they want Nick to take the OAT's!! The testing was supposed to begin yesterday, but they canceled! VERY FRUSTRATING!! So, they are supposed to come out this afternoon....I wouldn't bet on it though! LOL Not so sure how he will do on the tests since he has had very little instruction since we have been down here. Actually, absolutely no instruction since we were discharged! Hopefully the tests do not count against him!! He is up to the challenge though! Not happy about it, but willing to try!
Tomorrow we are at the hospital for his IVIG infusion and level check. Hopefully his blood levels have gone up. He has had very low energy and headache this week, which usually indicates the need of red cells. They have been holding off on transfusing because they want him to make his own cells without the help of transfusion. Hopefully, we see those numbers begin to go up!

Hi Nick, Don't stress over the OAT testing. Just show what you know! If you do score a little lower than normally they will make sure next year that you get some help catching up, but it won't effect your placement in classes or anything. Just show what you know! Be sure to work your hardest on the Social Studies part! LOL :) Glad things are still going well down there. I hope your headache goes away soon. We miss you and wish you well. Nick; Try not to stress about those OAT's, since they are just a way to measure what you already know...and then help to place you in the proper classes. Most kids take them, or tests like them, just before they enter college, as a way of determining what classes they should schedule. We all know that you have learned far more this year than any test can measure; and that you are an incredibly strong young man who can stand up to the challenge! Continuing to pray for your complete healing. I will be praying that you are making your own red blood cells, and that the healing process continues steadily. Also continuing to thank the Lord for your strength and determination! May He bless you with a swift and complete healing! Hang in there...you are SOOO close to the end of this battle. Dear Dan, Sandy, Nick, Laney, and Nate; It was a wonderful day today. And as it winds down, I am doing what I do every night. I am checking my e-mail, and checking to see if there is an update on how Nick is doing. I am keeping all of you close in thoughts and prayers, and am asking the Lord to place His healling touch on Nick, and bring him complete and total healing. I just wanted to say that I am continuing to lift all of the other children and their families up to the Lord, and am wondering if there are any further updates on Blake or any of the others. I also wanted to remind you all that prayers continue for each of you, and that you are never far from our thoughts. Wishing you a peaceful evening, filled with deep, healing sleep, and a week to come filled with more steady healing. Praying that Nick's body will begin making more of its own healthy cells!
